Surah Al-Buruj
| *** |
(Revealed at Makkah)
| *** |
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
| *** |
وَالسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ الۡبُرُوۡجِۙ ﴿۱
1. Wassamaaa’i zaatil-burooj.
1. By the Sky, with its constellations;
| *** |
وَالۡيَوۡمِ الۡمَوۡعُوۡدِۙ ﴿۲
2. Wal-Yawmil-Maw’ood.
2. By the promised Day (of Judgment);
| *** |
وَشَاهِدٍ وَّمَشۡهُوۡدٍؕ ﴿۳
3. Wa Shaahidiñw-wa Mashhood.
3.By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness;
| *** |
قُتِلَ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡاُخۡدُوۡدِۙ ﴿۴
4. Qutila As-haabul-Ukh dood
4. Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire),
| *** |
النَّارِ ذَاتِ الۡوَقُوۡدِۙ ﴿۵
5. Annaari zaatil-waqood.
5. Fire supplied (abundantly) with Fuel:
| *** |
اِذۡ هُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا قُعُوۡدٌۙ ﴿۶
6. Iz hum ‘alayhaa qu’ood.
6. Behold! they sat over against the (fire),
| *** |
وَّهُمۡ عَلٰى مَا يَفۡعَلُوۡنَ بِالۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ شُهُوۡدٌؕ ﴿۷
7. Wa hum ‘alaa maa yaf’a loona bilmu’mineena shuhood.
7. And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers.
| *** |
وَمَا نَقَمُوۡا مِنۡهُمۡ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ يُّؤۡمِنُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ الۡعَزِيۡزِ الۡحَمِيۡدِۙ ﴿۸
8. Wa maa naqamoo min hum illaaa añy-yu’minoo billaahil ‘Azeezil-Hameed.
8. And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise !–
| *** |
الَّذِىۡ لَهٗ مُلۡكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِؕ وَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ شَهِيۡدٌؕ ﴿۹
9. Allazee lahoo mulkus samaawaati wal-ard; wallaahu ‘alaa kulli shay’in Shaheed.
9. Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things.
| *** |
اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ فَتَنُوۡا الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ وَ الۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوۡبُوۡا فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ الۡحَرِيۡقِؕ ﴿۱۰
10. Innal-lazeena fatanul mu’mineena wal-mu’minaati summa lam yatooboo falahum ‘azaabu Jahannama wa lahum ‘azaabul-hareeq.
10. Those who persecute the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Chastisement of Hell: they will have the Chastisement of the Burning Fire.
| *** |
اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوۡا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَهُمۡ جَنّٰتٌ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهَا الۡاَنۡهٰرُؕؔ ذٰلِكَ الۡفَوۡزُ الۡكَبِيۡرُؕ ﴿۱۱
11. Innal-lazeena aamanoo wa ‘amiluş-saalihaati lahum Jannaatun tajree min taḥtihal anhaar; zaalikal-fawzul-kabeer.
11. For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens. Beneath which Rivers flow: that is the great Triumph.
| *** |
اِنَّ بَطۡشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيۡدٌؕ ﴿۱۲
12. Inna batsha Rabbika lashadeed.
12. Truly strong is the Grip of thy Lord.
| *** |
اِنَّهٗ هُوَ يُبۡدِئُ وَيُعِيۡدُۚ ﴿۱۳
13. Innahoo Huwa yubdi’u wa yu’eed.
13. It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life).
| *** |
وَهُوَ الۡغَفُوۡرُ الۡوَدُوۡدُۙ ﴿۱۴
14. Wa Huwal-Ghafoorul Wadood.
14. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, full of loving-kindness,
| *** |
ذُوۡ الۡعَرۡشِ الۡمَجِيۡدُۙ ﴿۱۵
15. Zul-‘Arshil-Majeed.
15. Lord of the Throne, full of all glory,
| *** |
فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيۡدُؕ ﴿۱۶
16. Fa’-aalul-limaa yureed.
16. Doer (without let) of all that He intends.
| *** |
هَلۡ اَتٰٮكَ حَدِيۡثُ الۡجُـنُوۡدِۙ ﴿۱۷
17. Hal ataaka hadeesul junood.
17. Has the story reached thee, E of the Forces
| *** |
فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَثَمُوۡدَؕ ﴿۱۸
18. Fir’awna wa Samood.
18. Of Pharaoh and the Thamûd?
| *** |
بَلِ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا فِىۡ تَكۡذِيۡبٍۙ ﴿۱۹
19. Balil-lazeena kafaroo fee takzeeb.
19. And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)
| *** |
وَّاللّٰهُ مِنۡ وَّرَآٮِٕهِمۡ مُّحِيۡطٌۚ ﴿۲۰
20. Wallaahu miñw-waraaa’i him-muheet.
20. But Allah doth encompass them from behind!
| *** |
بَلۡ هُوَ قُرۡاٰنٌ مَّجِيۡدٌۙ ﴿۲۱
21. Bal huwa Qur-aanum Majeed.
21. Nay, this is a Glorious Qur’an,
| *** |
فِىۡ لَوۡحٍ مَّحۡفُوۡظٍ ﴿۲۲
22. Fee Lawhim-Mahfooz
22. (Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved!
