Sûrat at-Târiq

*** |
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
*** |
وَالسَّمَآءِ وَالطَّارِقِۙ ﴿۱ ﴾
1. Wassamaaa’i waṭṭaariq.
1. By the Sky and the Night Visitant (therein);
*** |
وَمَاۤ اَدۡرٰٮكَ مَا الطَّارِقُۙ ﴿۲ ﴾
2. Wa maaa adraaka mat taariq.
2. And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?
*** |
النَّجۡمُ الثَّاقِبُۙ ﴿۳ ﴾
3. Annajmus-saaqib.
3. (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;
*** |
اِنۡ كُلُّ نَفۡسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيۡهَا حَافِظٌؕ ﴿۴
‘4. In kullu nafsil-lammaa ‘alayhaa haafiz.
4. There is no soul but has a protector over it.
*** |
فَلۡيَنۡظُرِ الۡاِنۡسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَؕ ﴿۵
5. Fal-yanzuril-insaanu mimma khuliq.
5. Now let man but think from what he is created !
*** |
خُلِقَ مِنۡ مَّآءٍ دَافِقٍۙ ﴿۶ ﴾
6. Khuliqa mim-maaa’in daafiq.
6. He is created from a drop emitted
*** |
يَّخۡرُجُ مِنۡۢ بَيۡنِ الصُّلۡبِ وَالتَّرَآٮِٕبِؕ ﴿۷ ﴾
7. Yakhruju mim bayniş şulbi wat-taraaa’ib.
7. Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs:

اِنَّهٗ عَلٰى رَجۡعِهٖ لَقَادِرٌؕ ﴿۸ ﴾
8. Innahoo ‘alaa raj’ihee laqaadir.
8. Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life) !
*** |
يَوۡمَ تُبۡلَى السَّرَآٮِٕرُۙ ﴿۹ ﴾
9. Yawma tublas-saraaa’ir.
9. The Day that (all) things secret will be tested,
*** |
فَمَا لَهٗ مِنۡ قُوَّةٍ وَّلَا نَاصِرٍؕ ﴿۱۰ ﴾
10. Famaa lahoo min quw watiñw-wa laa naaşir.
10. (Man) will have no power, and no helper.
*** |
وَالسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ الرَّجۡعِۙ ﴿۱۱ ﴾
11. Wassamaaa’i zaatir-raj’.
11. By the Firmament which giveth the returning rain,
*** |
وَالۡاَرۡضِ ذَاتِ الصَّدۡعِۙ ﴿۱۲ ﴾
12. Wal-ardi zaatiş-şad’.
12. And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),
*** |
اِنَّهٗ لَقَوۡلٌ فَصۡلٌۙ ﴿۱۳ ﴾
13. Innahoo laqawlun faşl.
13. Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil):
*** |
وَّمَا هُوَ بِالۡهَزۡلِؕ ﴿۱۴ ﴾
14. Wa maa huwa bil-hazl.
14. It is not a thing for amusement.
*** |
اِنَّهُمۡ يَكِيۡدُوۡنَ كَيۡدًاۙ ﴿۱۵
15. Innahum yakeedoona kaydaa.
15. As for them, they are but plotting a scheme,
*** |
وَّاَكِيۡدُ كَيۡدًاۚ ۖ ﴿۱۶
16. Wa akeedu kaydaa.
16. And I am planning a scheme.
*** |
فَمَهِّلِ الۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ اَمۡهِلۡهُمۡ رُوَيۡدًا ﴿۱۷ ﴾
17. Famahhilil-kaafireena am-hil-hum ruwaydaa.
17. Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: give respite to them gently (for awhile).
