.بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem.
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. 

عَبَسَ وَتَوَلّٰٓىۙ‏ ﴿۱
1.Abasa wa tawallaaa.
1. (The Prophet) frowned and turned away,

اَنۡ جَآءَهُ الۡاَعۡمٰىؕ‏ ﴿۲ 
2.Anjaaa’ahul-a’maa.
2. Becuase there came to him the blind man (interrupting).

وَمَا يُدۡرِيۡكَ لَعَلَّهٗ يَزَّكّٰٓىۙ ‏﴿۳
3.Wa maa yudreeka la’al lahoo yazzakkaaa.
3. But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow in purity?

اَوۡ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنۡفَعَهُ الذِّكۡرٰىؕ‏ ﴿۴
4.Aw yazzakkaru fatan fa’ahuz-zikraa. 
4. Or that he might receive admoniton, and the Reminder might profit him?

 اَمَّا مَنِ اسۡتَغۡنٰىۙ‏ ﴿۵
5.Ammaa manis-taghnaa.
5.As to one who regards himself as self-sufficient,

 فَاَنۡتَ لَهٗ تَصَدّٰىؕ‏ ﴿۶
6.Fa-anta lahoo taşaddaa. 
6.To him dost thou attend;

وَمَا عَلَيۡكَ اَلَّا يَزَّكّٰٓىؕ ‏﴿۷
7.Wa maa ‘alayka allaa yazzakkaa.
7. Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not in purity.

وَاَمَّا مَنۡ جَآءَكَ يَسۡعٰىۙ‏ ﴿۸ 
8.Wa ammaa man jaaa’aka yas’aa.
8. But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,

وَهُوَ يَخۡشٰىۙ ‏﴿۹
9.Wa huwa yakhshaa.
9. And with fear (in his heart),

فَاَنۡتَ عَنۡهُ تَلَهّٰى‌ۚ‏ ﴿۱۰
10.Fa-anta ‘anhu talahhaa.
10.Of him wast thou unmindful.

 كَلَّاۤ اِنَّهَا تَذۡكِرَةٌ‌ۚ ‏﴿۱۱
11.Kallaaa innahaa tazkirah.
11. By no means (should it be so)! for it is indeed a Message of remembrance

 فَمَنۡ شَآءَ ذَكَرَهٗ‌ۘ‏ ﴿۱۲
12.Faman shaaa’a zakarah.
12. Therefore let whose will, keep it in remembrance.

 فِىۡ صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍۙ ‏﴿۱۳
13. Fee suhufim-mukarramah.
13. (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 

مَّرۡفُوۡعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭۙ ‏۱۴
14.Marfoo’atim-mutahha rah.
14. Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,

بِاَيۡدِىۡ سَفَرَةٍۙ‏ ﴿۱۵ 
15.Bi-aydee safarah.
15. (Written) by the hands of scribes

كِرَامٍۢ بَرَرَةٍؕ‏ ﴿۱۶
.16.Kiraamim bararah.
16. Honourable and Pious and Just.

قُتِلَ الۡاِنۡسَانُ مَاۤ اَكۡفَرَهٗؕ‏ ﴿۱۷
17.Qutilal-insaanu maaa akfarah.
17. Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah? 

 مِنۡ اَىِّ شَىۡءٍ خَلَقَهٗؕ‏ ﴿۱۸ .
18.Min ayyi shay’in khala qah.
18. From what stuff hath He created him ?

مِنۡ نُّطۡفَةٍؕ خَلَقَهٗ فَقَدَّرَهٗۙ‏ ﴿۱۹
19.Min nutfatin khalaqahoo faqaddarah
  19. From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due Proportions; 

 ثُمَّ السَّبِيۡلَ يَسَّرَهٗۙ‏ ﴿۲۰
20.Summas-sabeela yassa rah.
20. Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 

 ثُمَّ اَمَاتَهٗ فَاَقۡبَرَهٗۙ‏ ﴿۲۱
21.Summa amaatahoo faaqbarah.
21. Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his Grave; 

ثُمَّ اِذَا شَآءَ اَنۡشَرَهٗؕ‏ ﴿۲۲
22.Summa izaa shaaa’a ansharah.
22. Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 

كَلَّا لَـمَّا يَقۡضِ مَاۤ اَمَرَهٗؕ‏ ﴿۲۳
23. Kallaa lammaa yaqdi maaa amarah.
23. By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him.

فَلۡيَنۡظُرِ الۡاِنۡسَانُ اِلٰى طَعَامِهٖۤۙ‏ ﴿۲۴
24.Falyanzuril-insaanu ilaa ta’aamih.
24. Then let man look at his Food, (and how We provide it): 

اَنَّا صَبَبۡنَا الۡمَآءَ صَبًّاۙ‏ ﴿۲۵
25.Annaa şababnal-maaa’a şabbaa. 
25. For that We pour forth water in abundance, 

 ثُمَّ شَقَقۡنَا الۡاَرۡضَ شَقًّاۙ ‏﴿۲۶
26.Summa shaqaqnal-arda shaqqaa.
26. And We split the earth in fragments, 

فَاَنۡۢبَتۡنَا فِيۡهَا حَبًّاۙ‏ ﴿۲۷
27.Fa-ambatnaa feehaa habbaa.
27. And produce therein grain,

 وَّ عِنَبًا وَّقَضۡبًاۙ‏ ﴿۲۸
28.Wa ‘inabañw-wa qadbaa. 
28. And Grapes and the fresh vegetation, 

 وَّزَيۡتُوۡنًا وَّنَخۡلاًؕ‏ ﴿۲۹
29.Wa zaytoonanw-wa nakh laa.
29. And Olives and Dates,

وَحَدَآٮِٕقَ غُلۡبًاۙ ‏﴿۳۰
30.Wa hadaaa’iqa ghulbaa.
30. And enclosed Gardens dense with lofty trees,

 وَّفَاكِهَةً وَّاَبًّاۙ‏ ﴿۳۱
31.Wa faakihatanw-wa abbaa.
31And Fruits and Fodder.

مَّتَاعًا لَّـكُمۡ وَلِاَنۡعَامِكُمۡؕ ‏﴿۳۲
32.Mataa’al-lakum wa lian’aamikum.
32. A provision for you and you cattle.

فَاِذَا جَآءَتِ الصَّآخَّةُ
33.Fa-izaa jaaa’atiṣ-ṣaaakh khah.
33.At length, when there come the Deafening Noise.

 يَوۡمَ يَفِرُّ الۡمَرۡءُ مِنۡ اَخِيۡهِۙ ﴿۳۴
34.Yawma yafirrul-mar’u min akheeh
.34.That Day shall a man from his own brother,

 وَاُمِّهٖ وَاَبِيۡهِۙ ‏﴿۳۵
35.Waummihee wa abeeh.
35.And from his mother and father,

 وَصَاحِبَتِهٖ وَبَنِيۡهِؕ ‏﴿۳۶
36.Wa saahibatihee wa baneeh.
36. And from his wife and his children.

لِكُلِّ امۡرِیءٍ مِّنۡهُمۡ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ شَاۡنٌ يُّغۡنِيۡهِؕ‏ ﴿۳۷
37.Likullim-ri-‘im-minhum Yawma’izin shaånuñy-yughneeh.
37. Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 

 وُجُوۡهٌ يَّوۡمَٮِٕذٍ مُّسۡفِرَةٌۙ‏﴿۳۸ 
38. Wujoohuñy-Yawma’i zim-musfirah. 
38. Some Faces that Day will be beaming, 

ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسۡتَبۡشِرَةٌ‌ۚ‏ ﴿۳۹
39.Daahikatum-mustabshi rah.
39. Laughing, rejoicing.

وَوُجُوۡهٌ يَّوۡمَٮِٕذٍ عَلَيۡهَا غَبَرَةٌۙ‏ ﴿۴۰
40.Wa wujoohuñy-Yawma’i zin ‘alayhaa ghabarah. 
40. And other faces that Day will be dust-stained;

 تَرۡهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌؕ‏ ﴿۴۱
41.Tarhaquhaa qatarah.
41. Darkeness will cover them:

اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ الۡكَفَرَةُ الۡفَجَرَةُ
42.Ulaaa’ika humul-kafara tul-fajarah.
42. Such will be the Rejecters of Allah the Doers of
