.بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem.
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

اِذَا الشَّمۡسُ كُوِّرَتۡ ‏﴿۱
1. Izash-shamsu kuwwirat.
1. When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 

وَاِذَا النُّجُوۡمُ انْكَدَرَتۡ ‏﴿۲
2.Wa izan-nujoomun kadarat.
2. When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 

وَاِذَا الۡجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتۡ‏ ﴿۳
3.Wa izal-jibaalu suyyirat.
3. When the mountains vanish (like a mirage);

وَاِذَا الۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡ ‏﴿۴
4. Wa izal-‘ishaaru ‘uṭṭilat.
4. When the she-camels, ten mo Inths with young, are left untended, 

وَاِذَا الۡوُحُوۡشُ حُشِرَتۡ ‏﴿۵
5. Wa izal-wuh ooshu hushirat
5. When the wild beasts are herded together (in human habitations)

وَاِذَا الۡبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتۡ ‏﴿۶
6.Wa izal-bihaaru sujjirat.
6. When the oceans boil over with a swell;

وَاِذَا النُّفُوۡسُ زُوِّجَتۡ ﴿۷
7.Wa izan-nufoosu zuwwi jat.
7. When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like);

۸﴿ وَاِذَا الۡمَوۡءٗدَةُ سُٮِٕلَتۡ
8.Wa izal-maw’ oodatu su’ilat.
8. When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned

بِاَىِّ ذَنۡۢبٍ قُتِلَتۡ‌ۚ ‏﴿۹
9.Bi-ayyi zambin qutilat.
  9. For what crime she was killed,

﴿۱۰﴾ ‏وَاِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَ
10.Wa izaş-şuḥufu nushirat.
10. When the Scrolls are laid open; 

وَاِذَا السَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتۡ ‏﴿۱۱
11. Wa izas-samaaa’u kushi tat
. 11. When the sky is unveiled;

 وَاِذَا الۡجَحِيۡمُ سُعِّرَتۡ ‏﴿۱۲
12. Waizal-Jaḥeemu su’-‘irat.
12. When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat;

 وَاِذَا الۡجَـنَّةُ اُزۡلِفَتۡ ‏﴿۱۳
13. Wa izal-Jannatu uzlifat.
13. And when the Garden is brought near;— 

عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٌ مَّاۤ اَحۡضَرَتۡؕ ‏﴿۱۴
’14.Alimat nafsum-maaa aḥdarat.
14. (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward.

 فَلَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِالۡخُنَّسِۙ ‏﴿۱۵
15. Falaaa uqsimu bil-khun 
15. So verily I call to witness the Planets that recede, 

الۡجَوَارِ الۡكُنَّسِۙ ‏﴿۱۶
16. Al-jawaaril-kunnas nas.
16. Go straight, or hide;

وَالَّيۡلِ اِذَا عَسۡعَسَۙ ‏﴿۱۷
17. Wallayli izaa ‘as’as.
17. And the Night as it dissipates;

 وَالصُّبۡحِ اِذَا تَنَفَّسَۙ ‏﴿۱۸
18. Waşşubhi izaa tanaffas.
18. And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;

اِنَّهٗ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُوۡلٍ كَرِيۡمٍۙ ‏﴿۱۹
19. Innahoo laqawlu rasoolin kareem.
19. Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger,

ذِىۡ قُوَّةٍ عِنۡدَ ذِىۡ الۡعَرۡشِ مَكِيۡنٍۙ ‏﴿۲۰
20. Zee quwwatin ‘inda Zil “Arshimakeen. 
20. Endued with Power, held in honour by the Lord of the Throne,

مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ اَمِيۡنٍؕ ‏﴿۲۱
21. Mutaa’in samma ameen.
21. With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust.

وَ مَا صَاحِبُكُمۡ بِمَجۡنُوۡنٍ‌ۚ ‏﴿۲۲
22. Wa maa saahibukum bimajnoon.
22.  And (O people) ! your Companion is not one possessed:

وَلَقَدۡ رَاٰهُ بِالۡاُفُقِ الۡمُبِيۡنِ‌ۚ ‏﴿۲۳
23. Wa laqad ufuqil-mubeen ra-aahu bil
23. And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon.

 وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الۡغَيۡبِ بِضَنِيۡنٍ‌ۚ ‏﴿۲۴
24. Wa maa huwa ‘alal ghaybi-bidaneen.
24. Neither doth he withhold grudg ingly a knowledge of the Unseen.

 وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَيۡطٰنٍ رَّجِيۡمٍۙ ‏﴿۲۵
25. Wa maa huwa biqawli Shaytaanir-rajeem.
25. Nor is it the word of a Satan accursed.

فَاَيۡنَ تَذۡهَبُوۡنَؕ ‏﴿۲۶
26. Fa-ayna tazhaboon
. 26. Then whither go ye?

اِنۡ هُوَ اِلَّا ذِكۡرٌ لِّلۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ ‏﴿۲۷
27. In huwa illaa zikrul-lil ‘aalameen.
27. Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds:

لِمَنۡ شَآءَ مِنۡكُمۡ اَنۡ يَّسۡتَقِيۡمَؕ ﴿۲۸
28. Liman shaaa’a minkum añy-yastaqeem.
28. (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight:

 وَمَا تَشَآءُوۡنَ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ يَّشَآءَ اللّٰهُ رَبُّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ ‏﴿۲۹
29. Wa maa tashaaa’oona illaaa añy-yashaaa’al-laahu Rab bul-Aalameen.
29. But ye shall not will except as Allah wills, the Cherisher of the Worlds.
