Surah al-Fîl–105 (Revealed at Makkah)
سورة الـفيل
Al-Fil, or The Elephant

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
| *** |
1. Alam tara kayfa fa’ala Rabbuka bi-Aş-haabil-Feel.
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ
(VERSE NO1). Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the Companions of the Elephant ?

2. Alam yaj’al kaydahum fee tadleel.
أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِي تَضْلِيلٍ
(VERSE NO2). Did He not make their treacherous plan go astray ?

3. Wa arsala ‘alayhim tayran abaabeel.
وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ
(VERSE NO3). And He sent against them Flights of Birds,

4. Tarmechim bihijaaratim min sijjeel.
تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ
(VERSE NO4). Striking them with stones of baked clay.

5. Faja’alahum kaʻaşfim maakool.
فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍ
(VERSE NO5). Then did He make them like an empty field of stalks and straw, (of which the com) has been eaten up.
