| *** |
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem.
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
| *** |
وَالنّٰزِعٰتِ غَرۡقًاۙ ﴿۱
1. Wannaazi’aati gharqaa.
1. By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence;
| *** |
وَّالنّٰشِطٰتِ نَشۡطًاۙ ﴿۲
2. Wannaashitaati nashţaa.
2. By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed);
| *** |
وَّالسّٰبِحٰتِ سَبۡحًاۙ ﴿۳
3. Wassaabiḥaati sabhaa.
3. And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy)
| *** |
فَالسّٰبِقٰتِ سَبۡقًاۙ﴿۴
4. Fassaabiqaati sabqaa.
4. Then press forward as in a race,
| *** |
فَالۡمُدَبِّرٰتِ اَمۡرًاۘ ﴿۵
5. Falmudabbiraati amraa.
5. Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord).
| *** |
يَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُۙ ﴿۶
6. Yawma tarjufur-raajifah.
6. The Day everything that can be in commotion, will be in violent commotion,
| *** |
تَتۡبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُؕ ﴿۷
7. Tatba uhar-raadifah.
7. Followed by oft-repeated (commotions):
| *** |
قُلُوۡبٌ يَّوۡمَٮِٕذٍ وَّاجِفَةٌۙ ﴿۸
8. Quloobuñy-Yawma’iziñw waajifah.
8. Hearts that Day will be in agitation;
| *** |
اَبۡصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌۘ ﴿۹
9. Abşaaruhaa khaashi’ah.
9. Cast down will be (their owners’) eyes.
| *** |
يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ ءَاِنَّا لَمَرۡدُوۡدُوۡنَ فِىۡ الۡحَـافِرَةِؕ ﴿۱۰
10. Yaqooloona ‘a-innaa la mardoodoona fil-haafirah.
10. They say (now): “What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state?
| *** |
ءَاِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا نَّخِرَةًؕ ﴿۱۱
11. ‘A-izaa kunnaa ‘izaaman nakhirah.
11. “What!-when we shall have become rotten bones ?”
| *** |
قَالُوۡا تِلۡكَ اِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌۘ ﴿۱۲
12. Qaaloo tilka izan karra tun khaasirah.
12. They say: “It would, in that case, be a return with loss!”
| *** |
فَاِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجۡرَةٌ وَّاحِدَةٌ ۙ ﴿۱۳ 13
13. Fa-innamaa hiya zajratuñw waahidah.
13. But verily, it will be but a single (compelling) Cry,
| *** |
فَاِذَا هُمۡ بِالسَّاهِرَةِؕ ﴿۱۴
14. Fa-izaa hum bissaahirah.
14. When, behold, they will be brought out to the open.
| *** |
هَلۡ اَتٰٮكَ حَدِيۡثُ مُوۡسٰىۘ ﴿۱۵
15. Hal ataaka hadeesu Moosaa.
15. Has the story of Moses reached thee?
| *** |
اِذۡ نَادٰٮهُ رَبُّهٗ بِالۡوَادِ الۡمُقَدَّسِ طُوًىۚ ﴿۱۶
16. Iz naadaahu Rabbuhoo bil-waadil-muqaddasi Tuwaa.
16. Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:
| *** |
اِذۡهَبۡ اِلٰى فِرۡعَوۡنَ اِنَّهٗ طَغٰى ﴿۱۷
17. Izhab ilaa Fir’awna innahoo țaghaa.
17. “Go thou to Pharaoh, for he has indeed transgressed all bounds:
| *** |
فَقُلۡ هَل لَّكَ اِلٰٓى اَنۡ تَزَكّٰىۙ ﴿۱۸
18. Faqul hal laka ilaaa an tazakkaa.
18. “And say to him, ‘Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?
| *** |
وَاَهۡدِيَكَ اِلٰى رَبِّكَ فَتَخۡشٰىۚ ﴿۱۹
19. Wa ahdiyaka ka ilaa Rabbi fatakhshaa.
19. ” ‘And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?’
| *** |
فَاَرٰٮهُ الۡاٰيَةَ الۡكُبۡرٰى ﴿۲۰
20. Fa-araahul-Aayatal Kubraa.
20. Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign.
| *** |
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصٰى ﴿۲۱
21. Fakazzaba wa ‘aşaa.
21. But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance);
| *** |
ثُمَّ اَدۡبَرَ يَسۡعٰى ﴿۲۲
22) Summa Adbara Yas’aa.
Further, He turnedhis back, Striving hard(againstAllah).
| *** |
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادٰى ۲۳
23. Fahashara fanaadaa.
23. Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation,
| *** |
فَقَالَ اَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الۡاَعۡلٰى ﴿۲۴
24. Faqaala Ana Rabbuku mul-A’laa.
24. Saying, “I am your Lord, Most High”.
| *** |
فَاَخَذَهُ اللّٰهُ نَڪَالَ الۡاٰخِرَةِ وَالۡاُوۡلٰىؕ ﴿۲۵ .
25. Fa-akhazahul-laahu na kaalal-Aakhirati wal-oolaaa.
25. But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him,–in the Hereafter, as in this life.
| *** |
اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰلِكَ لَعِبۡرَةً لِّمَنۡ يَّخۡشٰىؕ ﴿۲۶
26.Inna fee zaalika la’ibra tal-limañy-yakhshaa.
26. Verily in this is a lesson for whosoever feareth (Allah).
| *** |
ءَاَنۡتُمۡ اَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا اَمِ السَّمَآءُؕ بَنٰٮهَا ﴿۲۷
‘.27.A-antum ashaddu khal qan amis-samaaa’; banaahaa.
27. What! Are ye the more difficult to create or the heaven (above)? (Allah) hath constructed it:
| *** |
رَفَعَ سَمۡكَهَا فَسَوَّٮهَاۙ ﴿۲۸ .
28. Rafa’a samkahaa fasaw waahaa.
28. On high hath He raised its canopy, and He hath given it order and perfection.
| *** |
وَ اَغۡطَشَ لَيۡلَهَا وَاَخۡرَجَ ضُحٰٮهَا ﴿۲۹
29. Wa aghtasha laylahaa wa akhraja duḥaahaa.
29. Its night doth He endow with darkness, and its splendour doth He bring out (with light).
| *** |
وَالۡاَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ ذٰلِكَ دَحٰٮهَاؕ﴿۳۰
30. Wal-arda ba’da zaalika daḥaahaa.
30. And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse);
| *** |
اَخۡرَجَ مِنۡهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرۡعٰٮهَا ﴿۳۱
31. Akhraja minhaa maaa’a haa wa mar’aahaa.
31. He draweth out therefrom its water and its pasture.
| *** |
وَالۡجِبَالَ اَرۡسٰٮهَاۙ ﴿۳۲
32. Wal-jibaala arsaahaa.
32. And the mountains hath He firmly fixed;
| *** |
مَتَاعًا لَّـكُمۡ وَلِاَنۡعَامِكُمۡؕ ﴿۳۳
33. Mataa’al-lakum wa li an’aamikum.
33. A provision for you and your cattle.
| *** |
فَاِذَا جَآءَتِ الطَّآمَّةُ الۡكُبۡرٰى ﴿۳۴ .
34. Fa-izaa jaaa’atit-taaam matul-kubraa.
34. Therefore, when there comes the great, overwhelming (Event),
| *** |
يَوۡمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ الۡاِنۡسَانُ مَا سَعٰىۙ ﴿۳۵ .
35.Yawma yatazakkarul insaanu maa sa’aa.
35.The Day when Man shall remember (all) that he strove for,
| *** |
وَبُرِّزَتِ الۡجَحِيۡمُ لِمَنۡ يَّرٰى ﴿۳۶
36. Wa burrizatil-Jaheemu limañy-yaraa.
36. And Hell-Fire shall be placed in full view for him who sees.
| *** |
فَاَمَّا مَنۡ طَغٰىۙ ﴿۳۷
37. Fa-ammaa man taghaa.
37. Then, for such as had transgressed all bounds,
| *** |
وَاٰثَرَ الۡحَيٰوةَ الدُّنۡيَاۙ ﴿۳۸
38.. Fa-innal-Jaheema hiyal maåwaa.
38.. And had preferred the life of this world,
| *** |
فَاِنَّ الۡجَحِيۡمَ هِىَ الۡمَاۡوٰىؕ ﴿۳۹
39. Fa-innal-Jaheema hiyal maåwaa.
39. The Abode will be Hell-Fire;
| *** |
وَاَمَّا مَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهٖ وَ نَهَى النَّفۡسَ عَنِ الۡهَوٰىۙ ﴿۴۰ .
40. Wa ammaa man khaafa maqaama Rabbihee wa nahan nafsa ‘anil-hawaa.
40. And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord’s (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lower Desires,
| *** |
فَاِنَّ الۡجَـنَّةَ هِىَ الۡمَاۡوٰىؕ ﴿۴۱
41.Fa innal-Jannata hiyal maawaa.
41. Their Abode will be the Garden.
| *** |
يَسۡـَٔلُوۡنَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ اَيَّانَ مُرۡسٰٮهَاؕ ﴿۴۲
42. Yas’aloonaka ‘anis-Saa ‘ati ayyaana mursaahaa.
42. They ask thee about the Hour,-‘When will be its appointed time ?’
| *** |
فِيۡمَ اَنۡتَ مِنۡ ذِكۡرٰٮهَاؕ ﴿۴۳
43. Feema anta min zikraa haa.
43. Wherein art thou (concerned) with the declaration thereof ?
| *** |
اِلٰى رَبِّكَ مُنۡتَهٰٮهَاؕ ﴿۴۴ .
44,Ilaa Rabbika muntahaa haa.
44. With thy Lord is the final end of it.
| *** |
اِنَّمَاۤ اَنۡتَ مُنۡذِرُ مَنۡ يَّخۡشٰٮهَاؕ ﴿۴۵
45. Innamaaa anta munziru many-yakhshaahaa.
45. Thou art but a Warner for such as fear it.
| *** |
كَاَنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَ يَرَوۡنَهَا لَمۡ يَلۡبَثُوۡۤا اِلَّا عَشِيَّةً اَوۡ ضُحٰٮهَا ﴿۴۶ .
46.Ka-annahum Yawma yarawnahaa lam yalbaşooo illaa ashiyyatan aw duhaahaa.
46. The Day they see it, (it will be) as if they had tarried but a single evening, or (at most till) the following morn!
